The Web Interface - Office 365:
Browsers:
If something is wonky or just not working right, try another browser. We've seen situations where we can't type in a blank box or type in an edit box and switching browsers works 99% of the time. If you're on Chrome, try Internet Explorer. If you're on Internet Explorer, try Chrome. If you're on Safari, try Chrome or vice versa. There doesn't seem to be a logical reason. Just switch to another browser.
Syncing:
When you create documents in your sync folder, they typically upload pretty fast. But if you have a lot of documents, it will slow down.
When you share something with someone - it may be instantaneous or it may take up to 10 minutes. However, we've noticed, especially with folders, that sometimes it won't show up at all. However, the person can still access the document or folder via the link they receive through email.
Mobile Access:
Editing
At this point, teachers cannot edit documents on tablets. However, if you click the "edit" button, the document will open up via your mobile browser right into the web version of Office 365, already signed in. So you can easily edit there.
However, you can edit using the iphone app (strange, I know.) I haven't tested on an Android phone yet. (If you have, let me know.) There is an Office 365 for Mobile app.
Viewing
We do not have access to any files that have been shared with us in the mobile app. If you do not "own" a document, you won't be able to see it on tablet or phone. So, if you're heading to a meeting with your ipad, make sure you aren't relying on the use of a shared document in that meeting.

The Sync Folder on your computer:
If someone shares a document or folder with you, it will only appear online and not in your sync folder.**
If you own a document or folder and share it with someone, it will still appear in your sync folder.
**However, if you wish to have access to a folder or documents that someone shares with you, you can sync the folder. However, you have to have "edit" rights to that folder to sync it. How do you know if you have edit rights?
After syncing this folder, it will appear in a different location from your other documents in your sync folder. The will be located in a folder called "sharepoint."
Interestingly, it will actually sync any folders that you have in common with the person who is sharing. In other words, when I completed this sync with the World History folder - it synced the Library folder too. Even though I didn't have "edit" rights with that folder.
It does seem to sync nicely back and forth when making edits. One caution - if you don't have edit rights to a document , when you view it on your desktop, it will let you edit anyway. Of course, those edits won't sync with the cloud version AND it will cause a sync error. This may cause other items not to sync. So, I would only edit documents that you have edit rights for.
To be on the safe side, when dealing with folders and documents that are "shared with you," just use the web interface.
